Betty is an extraordinary girl. She was found with her sister Wilma as a stray in Georgia and ended up in a high-kill shelter. These girls wrapped their paws around the staff, were very loving, and would get excited when people stopped to pet and give them attention. They both left the shelter and love the indoor life with their fosters.
This beautiful girl is looking for an active home. She enjoys going on 2 - 4 mile leash walks and does a great job as a solo dog but is just as happy when she is with her foster sibling. She doesn't pull, enjoys watching the wildlife, and ignores the other dogs on the walk. She would love to go on hikes and be your partner on outdoor adventures. Betty also enjoys time in her fenced yard and is learning about playing catch with a ball. She is excellent at catching the ball but is still learning how to drop it - I think the game of fetch doesn't come naturally to her but she slowly figuring it out! She loves to hang out in the yard with her foster sibling when she's not playing with her humans and is content watching her mom while she works in the garden. Betty has fun chasing the wildlife in the yard and sitting and looking up trees at birds and squirrels.
When it's time to be at home, Betty enjoys being close by and will keep you company. When it's time for bed, she easily sleeps in her crate. Betty also eats in her crate, and finds it to be her safe space.
Betty is an absolute sweetheart with kids and has had a variety of children over to her home and always gets excited and has a great time with them. We often find her hanging out with the kids, and she really seems to enjoy their energy. She also enjoys greeting the adult neighbors when they come by to visit.
Betty has learned some new commands since she arrived at her home. She can sit, come, and for her, down is to roll over on her back. And, she always loves rolling on her back for belly rubs.
Betty has an exuberance for life and certainly wants to be loved. She would benefit from a supportive and patient family as she adjusts to indoor life and continues to learn new things. She would be an excellent addition to an active and loving family. If you are looking for a loving, fun, intelligent, energetic dog, Betty may be your girl! Betty is excited to meet her forever family and fill their home with love.
