Betty is a beautiful 2 year old, spayed female, Great Pyrenees mix (we are guessing due to her super soft white coat, and extra set of dewclaws on her back feet). She is a bit slow to warm up, at no fault of her own, but once she does, she loves HARD! She has no idea she is a large breed dog, and would be happy to sit in your lap, if she could. Betty recently went through 10 days of training, and is a wonderful companion on walks, sits at doorways and waits for you, lays down, and much more. Betty is crate trained, and feels very safe in her crate, often going in on her own accord for a nap! Betty can be nervous in new situations, but is getting better by the day. She would do well in a home with older children, who know to approach her calmly, and tends to prefer calm male dogs over females. She would also do just fine as an only dog. She seems interested in cats from afar, but does not attempt to chase them, or bark at them. If you are looking for a friend, who has lots of love, and hugs to give, Betty may be your girl! If Betty is adopted by someone local to the Columbus area, she will also come with free, one on one obedience lessons, as follow up to her 10 day training!
A note from her foster-
While Betty is an honorary setter within our rescue, that won't stop us from finding her a home suited just for her. Betty has been passed around for the majority of her life, not able to find a permanent place to call home...yet. We hope she's been holding out for you!
Betty has developed anxiety when she is in a new place or meeting new people. She is on anxiety medication to help mitigate some of her fears, but will require a family with an abundance of patience to move at her speed in adjusting to her new life. Betty spent time with an amazing trainer that has improved her confidence and has offered to work with Betty's new family when she is adopted to ensure her success in adapting to her new life.
Betty is an absolute lovebug that wants nothing more than to stay by your side. She has the prettiest smile that comes out when she gets excited that will melt your heart. She is a big girl with a lot of love to give, but is very gentle in her requests for attention.
Betty has been practicing her amazing leash skills so she can join you on your hikes and neighborhood strolls. This girl doesn't pull and will go at your pace. Betty is happy to go for walks or binge Netflix with you on the couch all day as long as she is with you!
If Betty peaks your interest, reach out! You may be the perfect home she's been waiting for!
