Meet Candy!
Candy is an adorable, laid-back, friendly, three-year-old, spayed, 85lb Newfoundland Mix. She was rescued from a shelter in TX but now enjoys the indoor life and has adjusted very nicely. This sweetheart is housetrained, crate trained, and very friendly with everyone she meets. She is a real people-person dog. And Candy LOVES kids! She lived with five young children in her temp foster home and now lives with a couple of teenagers and quickly bonded with the children. Candy wants to be where her people are; she is an absolute doll who wants to be petted and loved.
Currently, Candy lives with her foster dog friends and a few cats. She gets along with the resident setters and tolerates the dachshund (he can be a bit bossy). However, she is very curious about cats, so we recommend she go to a cat-free home.
This lovely lady has learned several commands, including sit, down, come, and is working on stay. She enjoys playing outside, exploring the yard, and going for short walks. Her leash manners have improved, but they could still use a bit of refinement. After a short time outside or a playing session inside the house, this girl wants to take a break, relax on the sofa, and be close to her family. She will come up to you and put her head directly in your lap. She is such a sweet girl. If Candy doesn't have a human to be close to, she will lie down on the floor and chew nylabones or relax in her open crate.
Candy is a true sweetheart and would be a great addition to your family. If you are looking for a loving, fun, intelligent, laid-back dog, Candy may be your girl. Candy is excited to meet her forever family and fill their home with love and sweetness.
