Koa is looking for his forever place to land! This sweet boy spent the first part of his life as a stud dog and is now soaking in the good life as much as possible. He wants to be with his people and promises to shower his new family with lots of love. Koa gets along great with other dogs but prefers his friends to be spayed and neutered. Another unneutered male around makes him feel as though he needs to be competing. Koa is interested in cats and likes to follow them around, he doesn't attempt o harm them in any way. He would do fine in a home with children as well! Koa walks great on a leash and knows some basic commands. He isn't a huge fan of the crate but is fine to be left home alone uncrated. Koa is nearly potty trained but still wears a belly band just to be safe, he is very responsive to correction.

Koa does have some special needs that will need care long-term. At some point, Koa had heartworms that were not treated properly. He is now heartworm negative, but this caused permanent damage to his heart. He does have built-up scar tissue and an enlarged heart. The vet doesn't feel that this will greatly shorten his life span, and the only noticeable symptom he has is labored breathing. Because of his enlarged heart, there is a risk of putting him under anesthesia for a neuter. The cardiologist advised that he not be neutered. He will need to follow up with a cardiologist in January of 2023 with his adopters. Koa does not let this stop him and is continuing to live his life as a happy-go-lucky pup. Koa's adoption fee has been reduced to $100.
