A Better English Setter Rescue

My name is Maggie and I’m about 3-4 years old. I’m in good health and have recently been spayed.  I was found as a stray running with a pack of dogs. I was a mess, I hardly had any fur, and I was covered in fleas. Some nice lady took me in and got me feeling much better. My skin is still itchy but good food and care will help me get over that.

That nice lady decided that she needed someone to find me my forever home, so she sent me to A Better English Setter Rescue where another home took me in. Wow, do I like it here! I was a puppy mill dog and had many litters of pups by the looks of things. I even have a tattoo in my ear. I still need to get some fur on my butt and elbows because that was where I had to lie in a pen or cage.

I love to run in the yard, and I need a lot of exercise to get out all of my energy! I love my new freedom.  I have a high prey drive and energy level and will need a physical fence in my new home. I absolutely adore the two girl dogs I live with but most of all I love my people! I haven’t met one that I didn’t like yet. The little people next door are pretty fun to play with too!

I’m not sure what I think about cats, but I love to hunt birds in the yard all day. My new house has a parrot that I ignore even though I’m very “birdie”. Although my new home is pretty perfect, the people who live here feel like I need a new place where I will get plenty of exercise and love. I didn’t even know how to go down steps when I got here but I figured it out pretty quickly. I need a little work with my house manners and a lot more work on a leash, but I am a quick learner. I already learned to go outside when it’s time to go to the bathroom.

My foster mom and dad say that I am one of the prettiest and sweetest foster dogs that they have ever had, and it will be really tough to let me go but they know someone is just waiting for a little dog like me to help me and them, have the best life ever. Don’t wait too long, I’ve been told I’m a hot commodity.
