A good looking dog such as myself hardly needs an introduction, but my family calls me Sam. A simple name for a boy with a big personality. I am a one-year-old English setter / Red heeler mix. I'm 42 pounds of fun! I'm looking for my own family to run about and have fun with! I'm an excellent traveler. I walk well on my leash. I sleep and spend alone time in my kennel with no complaints. I love playing fetch. My foster mom says I am a smarty pants! I can even slide open the patio door to let myself out. Unfortunately, I don't close the door behind me. I have the bestest time with my two Foster Brothers. They really help me burn any extra energy I might have.
I sound like a perfect gentleman. How is it I'm looking for my very own home? Well, as I got to be the wonderful age of one, my previous family found they just couldn't give me the exercise and attention I so need. I'd do great in a home with another dog.
My prey drive is pretty high, so it's best to have a home without a cat. I have cattle dog characteristics; I tend to get a little mouthy. This doesn't mean I bite, I just like to communicate by putting my mouth on things I want to direct. I don't herd people, but I am curious to what they are doing. Kids are great, but I am probably too protective of the little ones. A home with kids above the age of 10 is probably best. Someone with heeler experience would be considered though if they have kiddos. A fence is a must. I did jump over a small 3 foot fence, but the four foot fence my foster home has works perfectly. I could lie outside all day, so a place to run and explore would be a dream come true!
If you think your family could be my forever please don't wait any longer and put in your application for me, Sam!
