Thank you for looking at my page.  My name is Tilly, and I am a 3-4 year old, spayed setter mix.

Yes, a DNA test showed that I am setter/lab mix! Please read on because I have such a story to tell that cannot be believed.

I was found wandering and pregnant in Kentucky and taken to a "kill" shelter to have my pups.

I was quickly pulled by another shelter in MI where I was allowed to raise my babies and see the fantastic families that came and adopted them. Sadly, I spent 7 months in that shelter being overlooked. Why you ask? Well, it is because it takes me awhile to warm up to people. I am not aggressive or mean, I guess I was just not outgoing enough to attract the attention of an adopter. I was pulled from the shelter by a rescue group, and I am grateful, but it still took me awhile to warm up.

I really like my foster Dad, but he was a different sort of person.  He was loving, but insisted things be done his way.  He was not one of the "Love me!" types but was more all in your time.  It took me about 2-3 weeks, but now I bark for his attention and want to be petted and wag my little tail off.

It is different when things move at a slower more regulated pace.  I want and need that.

Just give me time.  I am a dog, and love people.  I need someone who loves me.

Now that I am wagging and wanting to be petted Dad thinks I need to move on to a forever home.

Boy, somebody tell me what that is all about!  I am available for adoption by anyone who understands that I need “my” time to warm up.  Just feed and care for me and ignore me until I make the turn.

I will, and I hope you will too.  I do not like other dogs to mess with my food or my crate, but otherwise am good with them.  I will even play with them.  I do not play with toys yet although I may in future.  Let's find out together.
