A Better English Setter Rescue

Little Miss Abby is ready to find her forever family! This little pocket setter started her life in Ohio and journeyed out West to her foster home where she has thrived! She’s got a beautiful tri-coat and is ready to steal your heart. 

Abby is a small, adorable and fun-loving setter. She is cheerful, affectionate and so eager to please. She has yet to meet anyone she does not like-men, women, children and other dogs. She mostly ignores the cat, but that is the fault of our stand-offish cat. Given half a chance, Abby would love her too. 

Abby is an easy going girl. She loves her walks, but is equally happy hanging out indoors. She walks pretty well on leash and we are working on staying on the left side and not crossing in front. She is excellent at coming when she is called, despite all the distractions in the meadows and woods where she is off leash. She does not seem to have a super strong ‘prey drive’ or seem particularly ‘birdy’, but loves galloping about sniffing things out and playing chase with her foster sisters.

At home she just wants to know where her human is. When she first arrived she followed me everywhere, but soon settled into being content to lie on her bed as long as she knows I am near.

Abby is well behaved in the house. She can be left, with the other dogs, in the kitchen, if I have to be out. She is OK in a crate, but does not need to be crated. 

She quickly adapted to our ‘house rules’- no counter surfing, no getting underfoot when the human is cooking, no sleeping on the furniture unless there is a dog blanket on it, no stealing other dogs food even though they eat too slowly.

She is a quick learner and lives to hear the words ‘good girl’.

Abby is the best and easiest of companions. I think the ideal home for her is with anyone who is able to offer her a kind word and buckets of affection.
