“Hello all! My name is Coconut and I am a 3yr-old male English Setter that loves to have fun! I especially like to run in the yard and swim in my kiddie-pool. I am excited to be learning lots of new things. I can walk nicely on leash now, and I already know Sit and Down. I'm house broken and crate trained. I am looking for my fur-ever home. My Foster mom says I am ready.”

Coconut, aka Coco, is a fun loving 3-year-old high energy boy who absolutely loves to be outside. Although he likes toys ok, he is not toy driven. He would rather be outside chasing the shadows of birds. He has yet to figure out that the real birds are above him! He prefers chasing the shadow-birds over being a couch potato every time! In the back yard, he does not challenge the fence, so he can run and run safely there. He enjoys water so much he will duck his whole head and feet into any water bowl, and he absolutely loves playing in his swimming pool.

Coco has been working in a 4H dog program with my 9 yr-old granddaughter and has learned Heel, Sit, Down, and Stay on-leash. He has not advanced to off-leash yet as his energy is so high. He is easy to train while on leash and is treat motivated but will also perform with praise only, without treats. He does best with help keeping his focus, as he is still easily distracted. In 4H, Coco has also been working on an obstacle course on-leash and with the right person he could be an amazing Agility dog.

He is friendly towards children of all ages but prefers 6 years and older as younger ones tend to make him a little nervous. He is generally very good with other dogs but can get defensive if he feels cornered. He likes it best if the other dog/s leave him alone to hunt his shadow birds! Coconut is okay with cats and hasn't shown any signs of wanting to chase them inside, but he may back up and bark when he sees them. Outside, he would be happy to give chase. Coco makes a great watchdog, as he will alert you loudly when someone approaches that he does not know.

Coconut loves adventures. He enjoys car rides, long walks, and going hiking in the local state forest, but until he learns off-leash skills, he needs to be on-leash at all times.

Coconut would love to live with a very active family that could offer him lots of love and adventures. If this sounds like you, please fill out an application!
