Hi there, my name is Huckleberry, HB for short. I don’t mean to brag, but I am about the sweetest dog you will ever meet.

I am a healthy, proud tricolor English Setter, and I am 4 and a ½ years old. I recently got neutered, which I wasn’t too happy about, but I am so sweet that I didn’t grumble about it at all.

I am from a hunting preserve in Tennessee, and my current people fostered me to get me out of a bad situation. I will forever love them for it, but my foster mommy and daddy said that they wanted me to give all my love to another family too, not just them. I think it’s sweet that they want to share me. You should know some more about me, so here goes.

I love to run and play on the grass in my backyard, chase my fence line buddies, and flush all the birdies. The thing is, I get so excited when I am playing that sometimes I forget to go potty. I hardly ever have an accident when I am inside the house, but I am still learning how to live inside. I know I will get this living inside thing down because I have already made a lot of progress in the last month. Anyway, if you see me get antsy, it’s usually because I must pee or poop, so please let me out.

You should also know that I live with two other boy doggies that have also lost their man parts. Their names are Henry and Hunter. I mostly get along with them, we often give each other bro love. Occasionally I have growled at Henry, the alpha, and mommy puts me in timeout in my kennel, but I always settle down quickly, and this has been happening a lot less as I get to know my new bros. Everyone has also learned that my play talking sounds like I am growling, but if you see that my tail is wagging, I am not growling. In fact, I have only ever really growled just a few times.

Now, I should tell you all the things I have learned by living inside.

I really love getting belly rubs, and even though I sit all the time on my own, I am still trying to learn how to sit when the humans ask me to.  I am a work in progress!

I am learning so many new things. For example, my humans have toys in the house, which are strange to me, so sometimes I bark at them until I have figured out how much fun they are to squeak and shake around. I don’t even mind when Henry or Hunter take away my toys, I think it’s nice to share. Now when I say toys, I also include sneakers, throw rugs and the like in that category. I know I am not a puppy, but living inside is new to me, so just let me know what I can and can’t do. I am so sweet that when you tell me NO, I stop pretty much right away, lol.

Another strange thing to me is all the treats I get from my humans. I got a hot dog piece for the first time, and I think I played with it for about 10 minutes before I ate it. My people laughed and laughed. Now I love hot dogs. My humans have also had to pill me to get me over a cough and I took it like a good boy, never complained one time. I am glad I did too, because the Dogter says my lungs are all cleared up, and I feel great. I know I am rambling a bit, but I have so many things to say.

Oh, I just remembered that I am learning to walk on leash. Remember that whole sitting thing around humans, well I was doing that on leash walks too, but now I hardly ever do it. I am getting so much better, and I just keep moving along.

I guess that’s about it, except you should know that I was eating 2 cups per meal of dry dog food twice a day. I really like the Fromm’s 4-star, grain-inclusive stuff.  I have been maintaining a good weight of 38 pounds with this diet.

Well, I hope that someone out there would like a sweet, lovable boy like me, and I know I would enjoy a new adventure with my own family for the rest of my life.

Hugs and Kisses,

Huckleberry
