Luna is a very sweet girl. She is about 2 years old. Luna is gorgeous. Her deep red coat is stunning and super soft. Her beautiful setter feathers are filling in, adding to her beauty. She is always curious about what the humans are doing and follows closely, sticking her head into everything. Like most setters, she is quiet and calm in the house and very active outside. She loves to go on daily walks and also enjoys hiking in the woods. She loves her hiking bandana as she knows an adventure is coming!

She walks nicely at heel on a leash, trained to be on the right side. She does not care for halters and does better with a leash and collar. She is not reactive to other dogs or humans walking past her on a walk, and will offer an appropriate tail wag.

A fenced yard would be great for her to allow some running freedom in addition to leash walks. She is not a jumper, so a 4 ft fence would be sufficient. She loves the yard, and when she sees a bird there, she frequently “sets”.

Luna is very smart, and while she may attempt to jump up on adults, she is learning that it is not a behavior we approve of. She has not been exposed to small children, but her activity level makes us think that she would be better suited to a home with older children or with adults only.

Luna craves attention, and she would love to be an only pet, but she may also do well with a calm, confident second dog in the house. Luna is ok with dog-savvy cats, but would need close supervision before you could fully trust her with a cat. Based on behavior in previous homes, we feel that she would do best as the only pet in the house.

She is fully house-trained and if you go out, she does well in a sectioned-off area with a couch to lounge on, instead of a crate. We use a gate to keep her in our family room when we leave the house. She likes toys and slippers, but has not chewed up anything (so far!) - she only hoards them. At night, she likes to be with her humans. She starts in bed with us and ends up moving to her own space on the carpet next to our bed for the rest of the night.

Luna is a happy dog who has been bounced around for the first part of her life. She is very loving and is always ready to lay her head on the leg of anyone who sits down. She seeks affection and listens very well. She will give as much love as she gets! Luna thrives on gentle but firm commands and positive verbal reinforcement of good behavior. She is very protective of her people, and responds with a nice deep bark if someone is entering our home.

If you are an active household, Luna would love to come live with you, and be your new best friend. All you need to do is put in an application.
