A Better English Setter Rescue

Murphy is his name, but he answers to Murph or Murphy-Man! He is a very affectionate guy. Murphy loves everybody, and warms quickly to visitors. He loves to be petted, and will lean in to keep it going, including hugs from my 9-year-old. He loves to curl up on the couch with you when you watch TV, but he is not much inclined to try to get on the bed. Instead, he prefers the dog bed on the floor. Once the lights are out, he retires to one of the living room dog beds for the night. During the day, he also likes to snooze on a dog bed, or camp out by a window watching the birds and squirrels. He will give a few kisses here and there, and nibble your sleeve affectionately when you return from a day at work.

Murphy is a very social guy and he gets along great with other dogs. He typically greets other dogs with a wagging tail and play bow. He will steal toys from our two lab mixes at times, trying to engage them in a game of chase or tug of war, but to Murphy’s disappointment, they are not much interested in that game! He loves to play chase with other dogs at the dog park, and he will run the fence line in the backyard, racing with the neighbor dogs. 

Murphy loves the backyard, especially if accompanied by another dog or his people. He is a bird dog through and through. He even tracks birds as they fly, fixating on their movements. He loves toys and games and will pounce on the ball when you throw it. Unfortunately, he hasn't learned the art of bringing it back just yet! He is VERY fast and would do great in agility or rally classes.

He loves to take walks and is working on how to walk on a leash without pulling. Murphy is in his element when taking a long walk on a nature trail. It's his JAM! He bounds and leaps and runs and sniffs - total energy and total joy! On the trail too, he loves to meet and greet other humans and dogs, and is friendly with everyone he encounters.
