Introducing the beautiful Rain. Despite the name, this precious girl is the brightest ray of sunshine. She has been through so much, but nothing seems to dull her light.
Rain has had some medical obstacles to navigate since coming into rescue. Since she came into Rescue about six months ago, this little gal has been through three surgeries. She had an eye removed due to severe infection, she had her spay surgery, and most recently she had a nipple and the surrounding tissue removed. She handled all of these like a champ. She now has a clean bill of health and is ready to finally find her forever home.
Rain loves attention from her humans as well as other dogs. She would do well if she had company most of the time – whether from people or from another dog. She is incredibly sweet, silly and playful. She is pretty small at only 34 pounds, but she is energetic and can be a little jumpy - so she would probably do better in a home without small children. She makes a very silly sound when she is playing that took the resident dog some time to understand. It almost sounds like a throaty gargling. It was a little startling at first, but once the resident dog realized it was not a growl, they became fast friends! Now they play together all the time. Rain loves to take every single toy out of the toy box and play with each one for about a minute before deciding which one she wants to spend more time with. She is a great eater and really enjoys some canned food frozen in a Kong. She is incredibly energetic for a six-year-old!
She is rarely in a crate but she is OK when she is in there. She has free run of the house when her foster mom is not home. At night, she sleeps in the foster mom’s room on a bed on the floor.
Rain walks well on a leash but it can sometimes take a bit of time to get her to go potty outside. As a result, she does still have occasional accidents. She is easily distracted by nature, wanting to chase squirrels, chipmunks, birds, deer, leaves, rabbits and bugs. So she has some difficulty focusing on the task at hand when we are outside for potty breaks! Due to this and her energetic personality, we think she would really benefit from a fenced yard. She does not have this feature at her foster home.
This sweet girl is fun, quirky, sassy, and smart. Her personality is exactly what you would expect when you look at her sweet little one eyed face. She is ready to find her forever home and a family to love her. She has so much love to give back!
If you think that Rain would be a good fit for your household, please put in an application!
