A Better English Setter Rescue

It’s easy to fall in love with this tall handsome boy who was found wandering in South Carolina. Theo is a calm dog who loves car rides. He "roos" to you when he wants your attention, and has a deep gravelly voice when talking to you. He will also give love-nibbles to express his affection. 

Theo is an active boy who loves to run. He gets the zoomies a couple of times a day in his safe fenced yard. After a few rounds of running, he settles down nicely. Theo has not been leash trained, but he is trying. He is adamant that he does not want a head halter, but he might do well with a no-pull harness such as an Easy-Walk. He is very smart, and he mastered our doggie door in 2 days. We are working on training him to wait for permission when the door opens before running outside. He knows Sit and Stop, so the door training is going well. 

He will allow you to put your hands in and around his food bowl with no objection, which is nice if you have small children who might be curious during mealtime. While he is tolerant of other dogs coming near his food bowl, he will also gravitate to their bowls to try their food out! He is food motivated during training, and takes a treat from your hand gently. 

Theo loves to be touched. Amazingly, he even loves to have his ears cleaned! He enjoys having his legs stretched out. When he is laying on his back, he will let you stretch his front legs up by his head. And he adores belly scratches. Theo has been very good with veterinarians and other dog professionals like groomers who need to touch him quite a bit. 

Theo has been a gem to have around, and he will be the best boy once he adjusts to his new surroundings when he gets adopted. If you are looking for a smart, energetic and loving dog, please put in an application!
