This beautiful 1 ½ year old Great Pyrenees came to us from a farm in western NC as an honorary setter!! Prior to that she had been locked in a small closet in Florida. A family with a farm took her planning on her being an outdoor farm dog but Willow had other plans. At some point she discovered couches and beds and thinks that those are much more appealing places to lay her big head!
She is an inside dog who just wants to be next to her person! Preferably on a couch or bed.
Rarely does she lay on the floor...she does get off the couch to find toys.
She loves to throw them up into the air and catch them and is happy to entertain herself doing so.
But she is happiest lying next to you getting pet! She is a low activity dog.
We take her on 3-4 walks a day. She does fairly well on a leash but will pull some.
But she is not very interested in spending any more time outside therefore a fenced in backyard is a not a requirement if she will be walked. She is protective of us and the house and barks when she hears loud noises but she lets people come in without any problem. (And typically a few kisses).
But I could see her getting more protective over time.
She has definitely taken a quick feeling of ownership and belonging at our house.
She seems to prefer females and should go to a home with a female.
Willow will make a wonderful pet to a family that is home much of the time to give this beautiful girl
the love and attention that she craves. A home where she is allowed on most furniture is a must.
She gets along great with our dogs. She would do fine in a house with kids
as long as they can handle her big size.
Willow is 66 pounds and should be 75-80. She is spayed and up to date on shots.
